- Kids Clown Workshop – Join this benefit program to bring the magic of laughter to children with orthopaedic challenges. Kids learn to juggle and do tricks in a three-hour workshop. Tickets and Sponsorships are $150 per child.
- Kerry and Michael Tepedino invite you to a Backyard Carnival to raise funds for Pediatric Orthopaedic Research. Sunday, October 14th in Rye, NY, kids can enjoy jumping castles, facepainting and fun. Tickets are $100 per family.
- Francis Y. Lee, MD, PhD was recently appointed as Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Lee, who specializes in tumor and bone disease, describes his research as “translational” which allows for results from the bench to be applied to his clinical practice. He is currently looking at the molecular mechanism of tumor-induced osteolysis and in the process of designing novel therapeutic strategies. Dr. Lee is one of a few pediatric orthopaedic surgeons with a NIH R01 research grant.
- Mrs. Susan Weil has generously funded the Ana Lucia Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Michael G. Vitale, MD was honored as the first incumbent. Named after a child from Peru who suffered because of lack of quality care, one of the goals of the fund will be to provide services to the neediest patients whenever possible, including foreign countries such as Peru.
- David P. Roye, Jr., MD and Carol Roye, PhD, husband and wife, were both honored by the Children’s Dream Foundation at a gala dinner event for their outstanding work improving the lives of children in New York’s Hudson Valley. Thousands of lives have been affected by the work they both do through counseling, medical care, research and outreach.
- Michael G. Vitale, MD and the Pediatric Research Group recently received the prestigious POSNA ANGELA KUO Award. This grant will fund Quality of Life research to measure the impact on children and families undergoing repetitive surgery for early onset scoliosis. The Pediatric Research Group is known world-wide for advancing pediatric Quality of Life research.
- The Pediatric Orthopaedic Research Group recently published "Preoperative use of recombinant human erythropoietin in pediatric orthopedics: a decision model for long-term outcomes" (Spine J. 2007 May - June;7(3):292-300. Epub 2006 Nov.

- Dr. David Roye led a team of 26 doctors and nurses, including Dr. Joshua Hyman to Nanchang China to perform life-changing surgeries on disabled children living in China’s orphanages.
- We are proud to welcome Amber Sentell, RPA-C, a Physician Assistant to the team. Ms. Sentell works alongside our team of surgeons conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, and preparing patients for surgery. She is one of 3,000 PA’s in the country specializing in orthopaedic care.
