Limb-Lengthening Instructions

EBI - FIXATOR

Materials

Allen wrench for fixator

Frequency

Four times a day

Direction

  • Loosen joints with wrench at bottom/top of fixator
  • Place wrench in lengthening joint and turn one quarter (1/4) turn
    (follow arrow on fixator for direction; often counterclockwise)
  • Retighten joints that were loosened
  • Repeat same process four time a day

Call your doctor if lengthening joint is too difficult to turn or if fixator frame becomes loose.


Multiplane Fixator:

Materials: Computer color coded printout of Lengthening schedule.

Frequency: Once a day as indicated on schedule printout

Directions: Follow daily schedule for each numbered strut. Turn strut to the appropriate number for that day.

Call your doctor is if strut becomes too difficult to turn. Schedule appointment with the doctor for the dates identified on the computer printout for the struts to be changed or replaced.
