New Clinical Fellow Brings Extensive Engineering Experience to Pediatric Orthopaedics
Michael P. Horan MD, MS, is the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Clinical Fellow for 2010-2011.
Although he spent most of his formative years in the South, his family roots are in New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Dr. Horan was born in Summit, NJ and his formative years were spent in South Florida until he moved to Savannah, GA where he attended Benedictine Military School. He then studied at Clemson University in Clemson, SC where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Bioengineering with a minor in Theatre Studies. Michael then worked as a Product Development Engineer for Stryker Spine in Allendale, NJ prior to attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Horan completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Kentucky in 2010.
Michael is the author of several Orthopaedic Surgery textbook chapters, holds a patent on spinal instrumentation and has published several scientific articles in the field of Pediatric Orthopaedics. He lives in New York City with his daughter, Merritt, and his wife, Jordan, who is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. Dr. Horan is excited to be a part of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery team for this year and looks forward to helping make in impact in the lives of children.
